He Saw Me

Matthew 26:36-44
Did not our hearts burn today from the fiery message coming from our overseer! The power of the Lord swept through that place like a strong & mighty wind from His divine presence!
The most important day in our Christian year is Resurrection Sunday to celebrate our risen Savior! He conquered death on a cross and without His reappearing, we would be lost (1 Corinthians 15:17)!
It’s our assignment to spread the “great awaking” so that others may believe, conceive & perceive—His suffering & death! Without Jesus’ sacrificial death, we would be forever separated from Him!
Even when called out of darkness into His marvelous light, our affliction is part of the package! You can go through hardship willingly or forcefully! Running away doesn’t make it easier! After dealing with obstacles, others are waiting on you! There’s no place to run or hide!
Again, no way to escape tests, trials, complications, disputes, etc.--that’s part of life! Remember, that Christ suffered and we must arm ourselves likewise! We must endure with faith! Analogy: If you drop out of school in the 11th grade, don’t expect to go the 12th grade unless you pass the academic tests! We cannot bypass challenges—there’s no option!
You may detour the city but not adversity! You might as well include it on your itinerary! There is an appointed time to face problems! Matthews 26:39 states: “And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.”
Jesus was predestinated as the Lamb slain! Nothing arbitrarily happened but it was exquisitely established! Like our Lord, so shall it be with us—no one can avoid life’s situations!
As cited, suffering is part of the package! Truly, our Deliverer is a way maker! Be determined to submit yourself to the Master & for He is our only hope!
The devil does not impose trouble, but it’s because of God’s will! Things can attack you suddenly even by folk you don’t know! I Corinthians 2:8 declares: “Which none of the princes of this world knew for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.”
People don’t realize what they are doing (all because of sin)! Luke 23:34 conveys: “Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do; and they parted His raiment, and cast lots.” The next time someone offend you, don’t get upset or retaliate! Just prepare for something else that is coming!
It’s nice to know ahead of time what will transpire! Sometimes, it doesn’t work that way! Immanuel has not given us comfort or leisure! He bore the cross so that we must do in like manner! There’s no warning but how He chooses! Thus, it’s incumbent upon us to have the whole armor on to fight the good fight of faith!
Being fulfilled in Him is gratification! Philippians 4:11 emphasizes: “Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.” Content doesn’t mean that things are at peace but you are! You can have a peaceful mind by having that personal relationship with Him!
“Wherefore when He cometh into the world, He saith: Sacrifice and offering thou would not, but a body hast thou prepared Me: In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure. Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me) to do Thy will, O God.”
Paul was sitting on death row and stared death right in the face! He had peace with God! Yes, money answered all things, but the peace of God surpasses that and all other things! His mind was settled from God’s comfort! Job lost everything but his life! He had contentment from the Advocate! I don’t want titles and lose my peace & joy!
“And said, naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.” Countless individuals lose everything and curse God! “Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him!
Like Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego hoped in the Almighty while in the fiery furnace, we must place our confidence in Alpha & Omega! Joseph also had peace with God when his own brethren turned on him! They meant it for evil but God meant it for good! Nothing has the power to unsettle you except the Self-Existing One!
When Jesus was in the storm unphased by the environment, He was the peace in the middle of the temptest! “And the peace of God, which pass all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:7. Surely, the Father shall guard your mind 24-7, securely with sanctity!
He protects us and has enabled us to comply! Sometimes, His decisions can be challenging and cause you to be confused, but keep in mind who is in control! Isaiah 26:3 articulates: “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on thee, because he trusteth in Thee.”
Yes, God is working for me and not against me! Like He hardened Pharoah’s heart, he can fix your enemy’s heart—just for you! Recall how He worked in Moses’ behalf!
Get out of your feelings--It’s not about you, anyway! Paul told the church “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” We all have something we despise or hate to go through!
The Garden of Gethsemane was a place significant for the Messiah! He was referred in all four Gospels where Christ retreated into deep prayer while in agony!
Like the Vine had been bruised, crushed, stepped on, we must be broken up to be solid! My strength from Him is from being squeezed and pressed! It’s not easy to use oil from an “olive.” It first must be smashed & crushed, in order to retrieve the coating inside! Jesus blessed the bread and then broke it! There’s a blessing in your breaking!
When you lay-a-way an item, you pay first, get it later! So it is with us: You must bear the cost as a victim—then victor! “And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless, not as I will, but as thou wilt.”
He took Peter, James and John and went to pray! “He saw you” in your sins…at the motel, bar, on the corner; abused body, alcohol, drugs, et al. People change their mind but God doesn’t! He saw me!!! He sees you when you cry, hurt; your struggles, pain and devastation! You don’t have to live without Him! When people walked out on you, God saw YOU!
He looked beyond my faults and saw my needs! That why He bled and died on Calvary Cross because He saw you & me! Don’t put your energy in people who don’t love you! There is room at the cross for you! You’ve been battling long enough! Embrace His love, kindness and mercies!
Our orator used analogies and demonstrations to illustrate and enhance his point! Three of the brothers depicted Peter, James and John when they were sleep while Jesus prayed! Also, he took the microphone and placed it on his shoulder accentuating the cross of Jesus! It was so dramatic and put one on an “imaginary journey!”
A wonderful change has come over my life! Take advantage of His many benefits! Many times, we feel abandoned alone & misunderstood, but He kept us in our right mind whereas, we would have given up! Undeniably, His love stretched beyond the cross! O Lord, we give you all of our setbacks; the glory & honor are due your Name!
An added supplement was the Easter Presentation by the children which was conducted so skillfully by Sis. Debra Abner Mitchell! The Praise Dancers also beautifully expressed themselves in love & admiration for the Lord! Overall, the entire service was filled with love, beauty & ecstasy!
We are so grateful that The Chief Shepherd has blessed our herdsman to care & protect his flock via of His Word! Thus, Dr. Merriwether has embraced the Belt of Truth; Breastplate of Righteousness; Shoes of the Gospel of Peace; Shield of Faith; Helmet of Salvation and Sword of the Spirit!
Moreover, we adore & appreciate his beloved wife, 1st Lady Shania Merriwether (FLOTA), for her love & services that she renders wholeheartedly for the advancing and nurturing of our church community!
