Graveyard Grace (pt. 2)

Speaker:
Bishop Dr. Robert Merriwether, Sr.
Reference Text:
Mark 5:6-7
A faithful, fearless front-runner in this Christian race, as named above, preached another fiery sermon today! He emphasized how grace is the unmerited, unearned love and favor of God!
As I am aware, the word graveyard is perceived as negative, scary and repulsive. But, with the Deliverer, we are more than conquerors through any hopeless or devastating situation! Additionally, we can have the ability to show love/patience/consideration for others!
“But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped Him, And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not.”
Referring to last Sunday’s message (Part I), the demonic man was a social outcast to the people of Gadara. He lived in the graveyard on the outskirts of the city and cried out day and night while cutting himself with stones. To all who crossed his path, he became fiercely violent. It’s not until the man speaks to Christ that we discover his true problem; he was a sinner under the influence and control of demonic power!
By piercing himself, he demonstrated how much self-harm was afflicted: He had “tomb wounds!” We, too, will have wounds in our life but we can overcome them by the Chief Cornerstone Himself! Note: Addictions to drugs, gambling, alcohol, pornography, etc. are just a few examples of sinful choices that destroy lives, families and marriages!
Thus, don’t be discouraged! When delivered by the Messiah, you can now put on church clothes. Therefore, don’t go back to the graveyard clothes! God can use the Holy Ghost to take things away immediately! He requires us to get the victory aggressively!
We are still fighting, dealing, struggling with some things! The enemy is scared when you come to church...come to the Lord! Romans 12:2 says: “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable and perfect will of God.”
Don’t be afraid to admit that you were like a “see-saw” — Changing rapidly and repeatedly from one position, situation, or condition to another and back again! II Timothy 3:5 declares: “Having a form of godliness but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. Prohibit yourself from putting on the "window dressing" of faith but rejecting the actual power of the Holy Spirit!
The Master has placed worship into all of us, and it is an inseparable part of who we are! If not, we will favor something else or somebody! Do not enable Satan to remove or redirect your glorifying the Redeemer! Some people worship cars, houses, positions...it’s a misdirected ritual.
Run and seek help! I’m depressed and can’t wait for release...I want deliverance NOW! Later may not come! If you've been through what I’ve experienced, you would run too! The man’s breakthrough was incumbent upon his worship! If you want to tap into God’s presence/power, seek Him! Again, make haste and run to the Lord! If not, relationships, sickness, depression, et al will take you out of here! Your future/destiny is dependent upon your immediate exclusion!
May the Word of God speak unto you and be counted! One shouldn’t want the Word to haunt him/her on “Judgment Day.” I must report to God! Luke 16:24 affirms: “And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.”
If you go back, you may not return! Matt 24:40-42 denotes: “Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken and the other left. Watch, therefore, for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.”
All souls belong to God! Devil: You got something of mine that doesn’t belong to you! Granted, we all need someone to fight our battle while frustrated, angry, deathly sick, etc. Come out of the graveyard, scrap yard, junkyard, backyard and front yard and “fight” the good fight of faith! With adversity, you can still work, cook, smile, sing, help others, etc.
Torment causes severe suffering and pain but is not intentional whereas Torture is to intentionally inflict severe pain or suffering on (someone). Ask God to renew your mind! If not, your mind can be tormented! Mental abuse has a far-lasting effect than physical abuse! Don’t fall from God’s grace by having a reprobate mind (bad, corrupt or foul).
Thank God for conviction...a sign that He is not through with me! Lord, touch my mind and always work on my spirit, mouth, attitude! We have a choice to change our destination! Save your mind before you lose your mind! As stated in Matthew 22:37: “Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment.” “My Mine is Mind”—it belongs to God—not Satan!
Worship is a channel of release! “The heavens declare the glory of God and the firmament sheweth forth His handiwork…” Matthew 4:8 reveals: “Again, the devil taketh Him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth Him all the kingdoms of the world and the glory of them.” But, the Almighty One yielded not to the devil’s commands!
Truth Teller: The great tidings received was awesome! Continue to “Preach the Word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.” 2 Timothy 4:2.
