Mark 5:1-6
“Park” your eyes on this message—a message that is too great to pass up! The spokesman (as named above) was like a “voice crying in the wilderness” of what thus saith the Lord!
As realize, “Cemeteries” or “Graveyards” are areas usually dominated by negative thoughts, e.g., heart palpitations; inability to speak or think clearly; anxiety attacks, etc. On the other hand, “Grace” is God’s kindness that we don't deserve. It is a gift from Him!
“And they came over unto the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenes. And when He was come out of the ship, immediately there met Him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit, who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains:
Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him. And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones. But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him…”
The above scriptures (as stated prior) are about a doomed man with unclean spirits whose abode was in the tombs, and no one could subdue him anymore, not even with chains. A lot of us are emotionally driven who are “buried” with finance, bitterness, unforgiving, obsessive worry, fear, jealousy, addiction, lust, etc. It takes grace to exonerate us from this spiritual graveyard or situation! Psalms 9:9 says: “The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble.”
The town people disassociated themselves from this chained, corrupted man! It was too complicated for them to control him! However, Jesus made the special trip to visit this demonic man! The enemy tried to stop Him. Said folks had written off this possessed leviathan! Body of believers: Remember that the enemy knows the power of the Lord is in our lives! Jehovah’s presence is full recovery!
If you to dare to get closer, walk with God! There is strength and solace for you! The nearer you get, the more joyfully content you will be—no matter what the circumstance may be! The closer you get to the flame, the more your feet will feel heat by its proximity!
When Jesus came out of the ship, the man immediately came out of the tomb! He (the man) didn’t ask his disciples to heal him, but he got Jesus’ attention! When you grow closer to the Lord, the devil don’t have much power as you think! The man’s evil spirits were rebuked when the Father arrived on the scene! Thus, nothing was stopping Him from seeing the confined sufferer!
When you came to the altar, that addiction...hate...revenge...malice...etc. can all come out! By trusting in the Redeemer, He will allow you to surrender!
Mark 5:1-6 is a reminder that when lack of faith is absent, our days will be difficult! For without hope, it’s impossible to please God! Despite Paul blindness and being in prison, his submission drew him to the Savior! With Jonah, he prayed to the Lord his God from the belly of the fish, saying, “I called out to the Lord, out of my distress, and he answered me; out of the belly of Sheol I cried, and you heard my voice…”
When someone is in chains or shackled with earthly woes (spiritually and naturally), the answer is not to attach more chains (or harm) but to recommend them to the Master for redemption!
Reassess how you want to be treated! Certainly, we have the full story—not half of it! We concur that the information (or Word) is accurate! Our passion should be compassion! Don’t judge or slight him/her by being distance, critical, complaining, or pessimistic but pray and again display charity and empathy!
The man had a problem that tormented him around the clock! What do you do when you can’t “wave the white flag” — can’t get a break. Stop the hands of Satan with faith/prayer/fasting! Night and day, the enemy will rob you of your rest. Rest is important! There is a difference between sleep and rest! Jesus advocated rest. “Come unto Me all those who are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
We need a divine relief, and it is NOT spelled “Rolaids!” Many people don’t realize the tears one sheds whether on the inside or out! Some even weep in disguise! Although I may be smiling or singing on the outside, I could be tormented with suicidal thoughts, an abusive spouse, drugs, drinking, pornography, cancer, debt, etc. It’s “war when you hit the floor!” None of us don’t know what’s coming our way!
Closing: Deep down inside, the man himself must have known the answer was with the “stone.” But the chief cornerstone is the real “Stone” who is Jesus Himself! Lord, “Your grace and mercy bought me through and I’m living this moment because of You…” Reiterating: Don’t leave until you get healed, delivered, free! Thus, let it go...no matter what the doctor or statistics says!
Ephesians 2:20 declares: “You, too, are built upon the foundation laid by the apostles and prophets, the cornerstone being Christ Jesus himself.”
Undershepherd: Thanks for another exhortation which divinely supplies spiritual nourishment for the soul! Also, it’s a reminder that faith, hope and love (grace) are building blocks no matter what (obstacles) we face in life! Romans 10:17.
