I Got To Die!

Speaker:
Bishop Dr. Robert A. Merriwether Sr
Reference Text:
St. John 12:23-29
The Lord thundered from heaven as our pastor delivered “worthy words” from the Almighty on today! The unadulterated Word of God stemmed from the above text!
“And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified. Verily, verily, I say unto you, except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it dies, it bringeth forth much fruit…”
The image of the grain of wheat dying in the earth in order to grow and bear a harvest can be seen as a metaphor of Jesus' own death, burial in the tomb and His resurrection! Our Sacrificial Lamb knew that the only way to victory over the power of sin and death was through the cross!
You kept your ego on life support too long but it got to die! The writer John indicates that Jesus was preparing to take on the sins of the world but it took divine grace and willingness! When His disciples attempted to rebuke Mary, He said “Leave her alone.”
When experiencing misery, we need the Anointed One! “...Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: Thou anointest my head with oil…” God has consecrated your mind to tolerate obstacles! When they surface, rejoice to be counted laudable to suffer shame for His name!
“Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you and persecute you…Rejoice and be exceeding glad for great is your reward in heaven…” Christ declared the hour had come but what He had to go through was inescapable! There are some things that you can’t accept; hence, let it go and give it to the Burden Bearer!
Many people can’t figure out why they must die to sin! Life is lived forward but understood backward! We will understand it better by and by! After I die that is not the end of my life! Therefore, it’s incumbent upon us to have faith! If I knew every timeline of God, there would be no reason to have faith.
But, God is good about hiding His “hand and plan!” We should never fail to grasp that God can orchestrate all things! Look at Job! He went through adversities, because God could trust him. Positively, He will see us through! God knows our difficulties and He has the power to deliver!
“He that findeth his life shall lose it; and he that loseth his life for My sake shall find it.” Nobody doesn’t want to be disciplined! Our flesh will never agree with the Spirit! They are in conflict with each other! Thus, deny yourself and take up His cross and follow Him!
Naturally speaking, if you read and agree to the terms/conditions of a contract, how much more shouldn’t you agree to the rules and specifications of the cross! By complying, He will remember you on the other side of the grave!
Our Deliverer is in control of cancer, breakups, diagnoses, betrayal, etc. It may feel, look or seem like He doesn’t have dominion, but “looks are deceiving!” With the Hebrews boys, Daniel and others, it seemed hopeless! We must let hell know that we will succeed! “No weapons formed against me shall prosper…”
“The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid…”
He’s got the whole world in His hands! You can’t destroy me! If I hold my peace and let the Lord fight my battle, victory shall be mine! He has my back! “Greater is He that is in you than he that’s in the world.”
Reiterating: I am the Lord’s anointed! “Touch not My anointed nor do My prophets no harm.” Jesus came to be crucified, rejected, lied on, persecuted, betrayed and died for our sins! It wasn’t the spear, crown, etc. but it was when they put Him in the ground! Be not dismayed in whatever betide you! The flesh must be killed! What you meant for evil, God meant it for good!
A spiritual expression: Don’t call “cold blue” nor the coroner! I got to die! Don’t summons the doctor, nurse; I must succumb! Where is the pallbearers, preacher? Let me perish! Satan: You put me in a position to be blessed and for God to work miracles! Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him! No weapon formed against me shall prosper!
“Weeping may endureth for a night, but joy cometh in the morning!” You may walk on me but I must yield! You have a “dead man” but I’m alive in Jesus! Don’t count me out! Once more, we must die to sin and live a holy life! I shall bear much fruit!
Opponent: You’re doing me a favor by betraying me, lying; smiling in my face but stabbing me in the back! It is necessary that I die for my destiny! There’s triumph in the graveyard...in the mind...I’m coming out! Out of my belly shall flow rivers of living waters! It’s not over until God says it’s over!
Thanks, pastor, for rightly dividing the Word of Truth—not as pleasing to men, but unto Him! Love & prayers always to you and Leading Lady, Shania Merriwether!
