Insurance for Failure

Speaker:
Bishop Dr. Robert A. Merriwether, Sr.
Reference Text:
Micah 7:8
Today, our pastor boldly stepped forward (like always) as he mightily delivered the Word of God! The Holy Spirit took precedence as we were caught up in ecstasy from the text: “Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy; when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord shall be a light unto me.”
Just the topic alone was striking, allowing us to respond quickly in an anointed way! Micah is confident that God will not only forgive him in his darkness and be a light to him but that He will bring him out of the darkness completely and be vindicated.
Our clergyman “heatedly” uttered: “I’m covered...I’m covered...I’m covered!! Are you insured? Even the guilty (with a broken and contrite heart) can appreciate this kind of message! Insurance (as you know) is to trust Jesus Christ as the Only One who holds the spiritual life assurance policy! Also, the Bible is God's contract with humanity and He wrote the eternal life settlement in His Word!
Coinciding with the aforementioned, insurance honors the biblical principle of reimbursing compensation to those who have been wronged! In Exodus 21:12-36, we see the Biblical law that those who are harmed will be recompensed!
The “minor prophet” stated that the actual incident (the destruction of Israel) lasted 70 years! Gladly, we can apply the main contents to our lives! It was not by coincident when he wrote that book—bear in mind, he emphasized not “If” I fall but “WHEN” I fall! Failure is not inclusive to headlines alone! It can happened privately (immorality, financial woes, etc. dilemmas)!
Sometimes, it’s providential—other instances, it’s not! By one’s fault of DNA, failure can build into the fabric of our being! Before and after, it has to take a lesson due to sin! Psalm 51:5 says: “Behold, I was shapen in iniquity and in sin did my mother conceive me.” It was/is the sin-gene or material in which I was constructed!
The programmed nature goes back to Adam in the Garden of Eden! There was no particular gender, race or class of people but it (depraved nature) affected one and all! Romans 5:12 acknowledges: “ Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men for that all have sinned.”
Again, these fallen or defeated genes are a mind-product of man! You can see the effects of man’s decayed nature! It’s even more evidenced before the coming of the Lord! Man is surrounded literally by a collapsed family, community and world! He/she doesn’t have the capacity or capabilities to live righteous on his/her own!
Paul mentioned in I Corinthians 13:1: “Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass or a tinkling cymbal...When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child but when I became a man, I put away childish things…” We cannot produced or be powerful within our own means!
Romans 3:23 declares: “...for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” Micah admitted his offenses, mistakes, failures and short-comings! We cannot live a life without transgressions or wrongdoing nor can we have an inclusive path without the Lord!
Important: When you linger in sin, you are not excused from “grace.” Romans 6:1 comments: “What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound?” Repent! Don’t abuse God’s compentence! There is no reason to keep committing violations! Your deficiency is a need for the Master! He is the only One who can deliver you!
Jude 1:24 utters: “Now unto Him that is able to keep you from falling and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy…” Who wouldn’t serve a great God like that? He will not pass you by! He’s going to present you faultless and use you for His glory! Once more, His power will permit you to overcome sin, shortcomings, ill-feelings, etc.
If not prayerful and careful, the devil will have us to believe that our frailties are our existence and that there is no way out! The three gospels (Matthew, Mark and Luke) revealed the faith of the woman with the issue of blood...Jesus Christ healed a man by casting out devils into a herd of swine and other accounts! Such names are not mentioned—only the incidents!
It’s one thing to have a struggle and another concern to allow your battle to become your character! Everyone is combating something—be more than your conflicts! What do I do? Look unto the Lord who is the Author and Finisher of our Faith! There are five stages of grief: Denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance which can be recreational, occasional, habitual, addiction and contesting!
Reiterating: Don’t give in to your mishaps or downfalls! Neither rush to judgment but make haste to the altar! “It’s me, it’s me, it’s me, O Lord; standing in the need of prayer! Not my mother, not my father but it’s me, O Lord, standing in the need of prayer...!” You saw 12 month go by and no change; so you make resolutions since you did not recuperate! Don’t put stock in your own “promises!”
Have you ever felt disqualify because of your financial record? At a car dealership, they can offer you a deal on an auto with good, bad or no credit...God doesn’t look at your past whether it’s good, bad or otherwise! Come as you are with faith and He will receive you!
“...And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten the cankerworm and the caterpillar; the palmerworm—My great army which I sent among you.” Joel 2:25-26. The Redeemer/ Restorer can make you whole! You are no mistake or accident. Perhaps to your parents but not to the Creator!
You not only need a natural insurance policy but more importantly, God’s provision or coverage! Truly, He’s the insurance for our spiritual welfare! Your deductible is already paid for by Him….I’m free—no debt, no sin! I shall arise! Surely, He looked beyond my faults and saw my needs! God will never raised the premium because you are protected! He has the divine policy! With Him, there is a guarantee against suicide, low self-esteem, loneliness, diabetes and more “roadblocks!”
Heavenly Father: Keep us covered, and we will be careful to go give You the honor, glory and praise in Jesus’ Holy Name!
Thanks, pastor, for holding fast the faithful Word which is in accordance with the oracles of God’s commandments! Your abilities are certainly manifested through sound doctrine for the fulfilling of scriptures! As always, we honor your beautiful wife, First Lady Shania Merriwether, for her services rendered to the household of faith!
