As We Speak!

Speaker:
Eld. Zachary L. Humphrey
Reference Text:
Matthew 8:5-13
On today, the presence of the Lord greeted us richly as our own Eld. Humphrey declared, testified and spoke with confidence on the above subject!
“And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching Him, and saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented; and Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him! The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not
worthy that Thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed…”
The Roman soldier’s servant was suffering from paralysis! The commander believed that Jesus' word of authority would be sufficient! Also, never had he seen a person die like the Savior!
Sometimes, our dialogue is general (or extensive) when consulting God! “Do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles…” Matthew 6:7. When we pray specifically, it draws us closer to God and strengthens our faith and relationship with Him! However, God can heal immediately, but not always! It can be through a progression of steps!
“As I speak,” Dear Lord, do it for me, “right now” (according to Your will)! Granted, He is the Great I Am...The Jehovah-Rapha... Alpha and Omega! He’s aware that there are some matters that need immediate attention! “Come quickly to me, O God. You are my help and my Deliverer; LORD, do not delay!” Psalm 70:5.
Things that may be troubling/tormenting you are: Short-comings, temper, family, jealousy, finance, sickness, etc.! If God can be specific with knowing how many hairs we have on our head, what about you being upfront with Him concerning your necessities!
There’s a “who and why” in this context: Who was the Centurion? A man who knew that he was not worthy of Jesus’ presence and understood that He had the ultimate authority! Why? He accepted that his own influence had limitations!
Most athletes working out is not that much concern about the operation but more so the recovery! Surgery could take an hour whereas the recovery phase might be months! However, the Lord knows the problem and His timeline for deliverance is different from ours!
Promise Keeper: NOW is the time! I’m going to stay right here! Like Jacob with the Angel: “I’m not going to let You go unless you bless my soul!” Genesis 32:26.
As implied, the Centurion had power, but he knew there was Someone above him! “I say to my servant, 'Do this,' and he does it." When Jesus heard that, He was amazed at him, and turned to the crowd following Him, and said, "I tell you, I have not found such great faith even in Israel." Then, the men who had been sent returned to the house and found the servant well! Our keynoter gave an example regarding the topic, “As We Speak!” While he was away, his wife called him about the children not doing their chores. He asked to be placed on “speaker.” Right then and there, he spoke with authority: “As I speak,” each of you do what I say! He conveyed (over the phone) each one’s responsibilities (sweep the floors, do the dishes, line up the shoes, etc.) and I don’t want any feedback! Point: Don’t wait! Speak NOW to the Holy Spirit and expect positive results!
When we praise and worship God, you will get His attention! “A broken and contrite heart, the Lord will not despise.” Psalm 51:17. Speak up... open up your mouth and let the Lord know your need! Don’t stop shouting, rejoicing or praising Him! It’s on the way! Thank Him “as I speak!” Not tomorrow, next week nor month but NOW!
One must be sincere and humble when addressing your urgency concerning the divorce, depression, suicide, cancer or whatever! Lord, honor my request...forgive me! Restore my marriage; help me on the job; Dry up the cancer; take away my bad attitude... unacceptable spirit! You’re able to rehabilitate me to the Fold!
We need intercessors, right now! You don’t have to wait all day! Ask and you shall receive, knock and the door will be open! Looking for the Holy Ghost, send down Your Spirit! I need to PUSH, PUSH, PUSH...I need a spiritual midwife! Push (or drive) the storm away!
Remember: “In the last days, God says, I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh! Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions and your old men will dream dreams.” Acts 2:17. “And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting…” Acts 2:1. Don’t stop, but PUSH your way through until you hear from the Beloved Son!
A faithful, fearless front-runner in this Christian race, we thank God for Eld. Humphrey’s staunch stance on the Word of God; also for his vocational skills; being a gentleman, family man and friend!
