Who Is In Your Circle?

Speaker:
Bishop Dr. Robert A. Merriwether Sr
Reference Text:
Acts 14:19-22; 13:50; 14:1-6, 8 and Psalm 34:19
“Is not My word like a fire? says the Lord, and like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?” (Jeremiah 23:29). The sermon delivered by our Bishop today certainly was that!
Regarding the title, God’s love is like a circle and a circle is endless! “God is love! Whoever lives in love, lives in God and God in them.” I John 4:16. The various companions (or circle) of Paul were Barnabas, John Mark, and Silas along with Timothy and other supporters who were associated in some way with him!
We, too, should have an inner circle with the right people! Such individuals can have a strong influence on us and will ultimately impact how we feel about ourselves!
They (some Jews) stoned Paul and dragged him outside the city, thinking he was dead. But, after the disciples had gathered around him, he got up and went back into the city. The next day, he and Barnabas left for Derbe—strengthening the disciples and encouraging them to remain true to the faith!
Maybe your life hasn’t included stoning or shipwreck, but perhaps, struggles (fired on your job, loss of a spouse, child or grandchild; domestic abuse, sleepless nights; a medical diagnosis that left you feeling alone and afraid)!
Elijah was a faithful prophet in the time of adversity who fled from Jezebel that his life might be saved! When dire situations explode, they can leave a state of confusion and disturbance but Emanuel is there to intervene in some way/how!
Back to Paul: He needed every ounce of courage because of the heavy sufferings he knew he would encounter. He said: “The Holy Spirit testifies to me in every city that imprisonment and persecutions are waiting for me.” (Acts 20:23).
Analogy: Stunt-Dirt Bike Riders! They realize if they ever sustained an injury, it is not a matter of “if” you sustained an injury but “when” you contract that fracture! Same with afflictions: It’s NOT whether they will occur but when! “Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD
delivereth him out of them all.” Psalm 34:19. Troubles were not designed to be comfortable—to make you feel good! Neither is chastisement/rebuke! You got to follow the leader (God)!
As cited, they (Paul and Barnabas) were aware of problems, and fled unto Lystra and Derbe, cities of Lycaonia, and unto the region that lieth roundabout. There (said cities), they preached the gospel and a certain man sat at Lystra, impotent in his feet, being a cripple from his mother's womb, who never had walked! The same heard Paul speak who steadfastly beheld him, and perceived that he had faith to be healed! He said with a loud voice: “Stand upright on thy feet” and he leaped and walked! Thus, God repositioned Paul to go to the next level and kept increasing him; and he continued to get stronger!
Don’t be discouraged! Tribulation is a sign of confirmation! God is about to do something miraculously! It’s just around the corner! When Satan acts up, he’s bringing to pass what God has already promised! We are not rituals in the kingdom but boulders (Rocks: Stability, strength and steadfastness)—for the Master has reconciled you! People can dislike you for no reason; therefore, don’t let them in your inner (natural) circle but pray for them!
It ain’t going to work when you try to team up against me! It won’t prosper! Folk can have other folks disliking you for no reason at all. You’re going to talk bad about me and never met me — shame on you!
Sometimes, when things can go wrong, it will be erroneous! If it can happen, it will develop! They united against the Messiah, but what the enemy doesn’t realize is that I have an answer when my heart is overwhelmed! Lord, lead me to the Rock that is higher than I!
How did you survive the divorce, setback, rejection? It was Jehovah-Rapha! Be excited, because you could have been dead! You’re still here and we should remember that the Lord’s servants should be willing to do His will regardless of the cost!
You’re not in charge—-you’re not the head! Reminder: God sees and knows and can put an end to your bragging and temper tantrums! Moreover, He can reveal your character of who you really are! It’s God’s way or the highway! God has set your steps in order to accomplish His
perfect will!
You need to be in His circle (presence)! “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people…” You shall live and not die to declare the works of the Lord! You’ll need people to tell you that that’s not you! Weeping may endureth for a night but joy cometh in the morning. Get up from the knockdown...It’s all right! Don’t worry! You’re better than that...you’re worth more!
Victory is from YOUR circle ("Alpha and Omega” — prayer, fasting; studying the Bible; motivators, pillars, counselors; trust-worthy persons, etc.)! Circle Check: I got winners in my circle and the Head is Jesus Christ, Himself!
Indeed, Bishop (& 1st Lady Shania Merriwether) has a heartfelt reverence for the majesty of God & serves in awe of His grace!
Sis. Jackie George: I'm forever indebted to you for your consent, skills and time! I will always treasure such acts of services!
