Sick In The Synagogue (Part 2)

Speaker: Bishop Dr. Robert A. Merriwether, Sr.
Reference Text: Luke 13:10 thru 12
Our representative for God certainly has been entrusted with the Gospel and he speaks, not as pleasing to men, but unto the Lord! Today’s sermon was a sequel from last Sunday—centered on the aspect of healing/deliverance—for oneself and others!
As aware, synagogue means "assembly" and can refer simply to the gathering of people (James 2:2) or to the building in which they gather (Luke 7:5). In other words, we can reach out to people who are bound (spiritually and naturally) in the church or otherwise! Also, we can seek strength and restoration by humbling ourselves before the Almighty!
“And He was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath. And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together and could in no wise lift up herself. And when Jesus saw her, He called her to Him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity.”
This woman (not named) was surrounded by so much anointing and authority! Not only was she bent over but she was crippled in spirit! She also was known to be ignored! Her injuries were reserved!
She was no idol worshipper but was called a daughter of Abraham! We should never be satisfied when we see wounded churchgoers! Moreover, we should deal with sickness in and outside the church! It should grieve/disturb us until they are released from their frailties!
I Corinthians 10:12: “So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don't fall…” One minute you can be up and next minute down! Like Peter: He was casting out devils; then denied Jesus thrice! Elijah had low self-esteem and wanted to die! He wanted to sleep and had to be encouraged to get up and nourish himself!
Analogy: Even with food, it can spoiled from being left outside and inside too long! Groceries can deteriorate and develop unpleasant odors, tastes and textures. Psalm 34:8 reads, “O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in Him.”
Not even education can be sufficient with God when restrained by the enemy! Let’s go from prayer to press/praise! Crave the real anointing! How can you be a blessing to the sick when you’re weak?
The Word should build you up! The warfare of our artillery should be in front—not back! Ephesians 6:11-13 says, “Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”
Some people aren’t sympathetic until they experienced a problem! Then, there are those who don’t believe that there is no hope! Don’t extract mercies from yourself! Also, don’t distance yourself from them, deny their afflictions and delete their names from the Prayer List!
Instead of increasing the gap, reduce it! God did not separate Himself but got closer to the situation! You can be married but salvation is the relationship that matters! The disciples/Pharisees sent people away! They were detached from love/compassion!
Some folk are bowed down in the streets, living room, bathroom, liquor stores, etc. But, the Savior is here to lift you up! The woman hunched presented her from having access for aid! “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord who made the heavens and earth.”
If drooped, the enemy knows that you cannot defend yourself! Embrace faith and have a mindset to change! If not, God can put you in a position of suffering because you refuse to repent!
The Mystery of the Hotel Key: Pastor compared a hotel room key to life! Sometimes during your stay at the hotel, your key will become demagnetize! Whenever you receive a key, it is coded with a strip. They were once magnetic and became demagnetize.
Do not be unstable, because God’s spirit does not always strive with man! Don’t let anything (pride, lust, ego, education, etc.) demagnetize your access to the Lord, prayer and praise!
You got to protect your code (or the Ten Commandments)! No way, Jose’ (absolutely not)! I got to listen, think, feel and forgive so that I can protect my code! Matthew 7:22 declares: “On that day many will say to me, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name and cast out demons in Your name and do many mighty works in Your name?”
I will protect my life with the code (God’s Word) for I do not want Him to say “Depart from me; I never knew you…” I cried, prayed, fasted too many days to give up! When your code is demagnetized, you must first go to the Father! Rearrange your mind/thoughts (thru faith) before you be decoded!
Repeat: Renew my mind, condition, submission, health, family, faithfulness, future destiny and clear nicotine, ungodly desires, self-esteem and generational curses! I got to be rewired or repent! Give me a heart to do Your will; seek the love/righteousness that are require of me! “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” (Ephesians 6:12).
Again, recoding is necessary for my relationship, worship, repentance, marriage, praise, love, conviction—RIGHT NOW! I rebuke any decoding that is in my life! Lord, give me one more chance! Don’t let pride intervene! I come too far to turn around! I don’t want to be denied His presence! I sacrificed too much!
It’s not my mother, father, sister or brother, but it’s me, O Lord, standing in the need of prayer! I can’t afford to lose at this stage! Lord, make me over again! Fill me with your Holy Ghost! Rebuke every demonic spirit! I can’t make it without you!
As realize, I need to be pulled from pride, alcohol, ego, bitterness, anger, hate, drinking, depression! Break the pull Lord, rebuke, cast down; we plead the blood against the pull! I feel the chains breaking! Deliverance is taking place, babies protected, spouses repented, taste-buds restored, promotions on the job and ministries being birth!
“Hope deferred maketh the heart sick but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life.” Go back to your calling, pulpit and services! Everything will be blessed! I’m being reproduced to hope and freedom! I am a surrogate for liberty—to help carry somebody! He that is strong, should bear the infirmities of the weak! I got you cover—I’m your mid-wife!
Live, live, live—that’s the rally cry! “I shall live and not die and declare the works of the Lord. The Lord has troubled me sore BUT He has not given me over unto death.”
Once more, we thank our Redeemer for how our leader speaks with boldness and approaches confidence through His Word! We also commend His beloved wife, Shania (FLOTA), who represent and signify the works of charity!
